One person was feared dead while many others were injured as the residence of former governor of Oyo State, late Adebayo Alao-Akala, in Ogbomoso was on Monday razed by fire.

A family source confirmed the incident to PUNCH Online on phone.

The family source attributed the fire to a power surge that occurred between 7.30am and 8am.

“Yes, it is true. We experienced power surge this morning, and it consumed one person. One person also sustained serious injuries,” the source said.

But another source told our correspondent that many people sustained injuries.

PUNCH Online reports that Alao-Akala died in January 2022.
