FUTA VC Seeks Assistance for Varsity’s Development

During the 32nd convocation ceremony at the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) in Ondo State, Professor Adenike Oladiji, the Vice-Chancellor, urged individuals and corporate entities to contribute towards realizing the institution’s vision.

Speaking on the campus during the ceremony, Professor Oladiji acknowledged the achievements made through donations and grants from stakeholders, but emphasized the on-going need for substantial support to further develop the university.

She noted that in spite of the institution’s modest achievements, the university still required enormous support towards actualizing its noble vision.

The vice-chancellor outlined specific areas for potential assistance, including endowing professorial chairs in various disciplines, donating laboratory equipment and learning materials, and providing doctoral and post-doctoral scholarships and fellowships for staff.

Professor Oladiji also sought support for the provision of state-of-the-art lecture halls and laboratories, the establishment of prizes and awards for outstanding students and staff, construction of student hostels under a Build-Operate-Transfer agreement, and provision of buses for students field trips.

Highlighting the university’s accreditation status, she revealed that out of the 27 academic programmes assessed by the National Universities Commission, 26 received full accreditation, with only one having interim accreditation, adding that Importantly, no program at the university currently lacks accreditation.

At the convocation ceremony, a total of 5,297 students were conferred with first degrees, postgraduate degrees, and diplomas.

Among them, 3,491 received first degrees, while 1,806 were awarded postgraduate diplomas, master’s, and doctoral degrees.
