Kwara Gov Condemns Killing of Ekiti Monarch, Abduction of Wife, 2 Others

Kwara State governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has condemned the killing of Olukoro of Koro in Ekiti Local Government Area of the state, HRH Maj-Gen Segun Aremu rtd.

The Olukoro of Koro, Gen Aremu was 22 RC of NAEME.

The monarch was reportedly shot dead in his palace on Thursday night by some unknown gunmen, who also whisked away his wife and two others.

The governor condemned the development, which he said was reckless, shocking, and abominable.

He charged security agencies not to spare any resources to track down the perpetrators, free the spouse and others taken away, and bring them to book.

The Bde Comd assured they were mobilizing to reach Koro village in Ekiti LGA of Kwara State.

β€œWe will certainly get the perpetrators and ensure that this is their last crime against humanity,” the governor said, adding: β€œMy profound condolences to the people of Koro. Our hearts are broken, and we stand by them at this time and always.”

Aiyedatiwa Nominates Kayode Ajulo, 5 Other Commissioners

This came a few hours after the governor sacked all the commissioners and special advisers on Wednesday.

The statement on nominees read, β€œThe nominees are Mrs. Omowumi Isaac; Mr. Olukayode A. Ajulo, SAN; Razaq Obe, Pastor Emmanuel Igbasan; Akinwumi Sowore and Mr. Oseni Oyeniyi.”

The statement added that the governor had also appointed the following individuals as Special Advisers: Olugbenga Omole -Special Adviser on Information and Strategy; Mrs. Olamide Falana -Special Adviser on Gender Affairs, and Mr. Alabi Johnson – Special Adviser on Energy.

Aiyedatiwa succeded late governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, who died of prostrate cancer at the age of 67 in Germany in December 2023.
