Civilian JTF Raises Alarm Over Fake Commanders, Members in Abuja, Port Harcourt

The Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) helping military in the fight against Boko Haram insurgents in the North-East has raised alarm over fake commanders and members who claim to be part of the organisation in Abuja and Port Harcourt.

Speaking at a press conference in Maiduguri on Thursday, the National Auditor-General of CJTF, Bashir Abbas, revealed that the fake commanders and members who were parading themselves as Civilians JTF identified as Nwachukwu Ada who claimed to be the National President in Abuja with
Aminu Sani, Ibrahim Kelani and others as exco members.

He warned members of the public against falling prey to fake commanders and members of CJTF.

According to him, members of CJTF had identification number provided to them by the Nigeria Army and office of National Security Adviser adding that the headquarters of group was in Maiduguri, not Abuja.

Abbas called on the Nigerian Police to arrest Nwachukwu who was a former member of CJTF before he was expelled from the group for indiscipline and extortion.

β€œOur goal is to protect and provide security to the people, our Organisation is not a political group, anybody that use CJTF as a political group will be dealt with accordingly.

β€œCivilians JTF is operating in 20 states in the federation, we are warning any person or group of persons to desist from parading themselves as our members”, he said.

Abbas said the headquarters of CJTF was in Maiduguri and for more clarification people should contact the headquarters and leaders of the group to avoid falling to an unauthorized headquarters misleading Nigerians in Abuja and Port Harcourt.

β€œWe wish to emphasise our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of transparency and integrity in helping military and other security outfits in protecting lives and properties of our dear country.

β€œThe CJTF is a youth vanguard group formed in 2013 in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital, we currently have over 26,000, we are gallantly complementing the effort of Nigeria Army in providing security in the North-East and other part of the North-West,” said Abbas.
