Following invasion of the Oyo State Government Secretariat by armed men suspected to be Yoruba Nation agitators, prominent Yoruba Nation advocate Chief Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Sunday Igboho, has distanced himself from the incident.

Chief Adeyemo clarified that he was not involved in the invasion.

The incursion, which occurred in the early hours of Saturday, saw armed men in army camouflage raising the Yoruba Nation flag and other symbols.

Reports indicated that the invaders attempted to take control of the Governor’s Office and the House of Assembly Complex, but were pushed back by a joint effort from the Nigerian Police, Civil Defence, Operation Burst, and Amotekun.

Chief Sunday Igboho, a key figure in the Yoruba Nation movement, called for a thorough investigation to uncover the perpetrators and their backers.

He urged Governor Seyi Makinde to conduct a comprehensive inquiry to determine the motives behind the attack and ensure that those responsible were apprehended and brought to justice.

Igboho reaffirmed his dedication to maintaining peace and security in Yorubaland, emphasizing that he would never support any actions that could disrupt the region’s tranquility.
