The management of Ajayi Crowther University has expelled some students involved in a fight that resulted in the death of a fellow student.

Contrary to reports trending on social media, the university has maintained that there was no cultism within the institution, saying it upheld a zero-tolerance policy for any anti-social behaviour or misconduct.

The university emphasised that the expelled students were not affiliated with any cult group.

โ€œWhat actually happened is that the deceased was alleged to have stolen a mobile telephone, but instead of reporting the issue to the University management, the expelled students could not control their emotions. Their actions led to the unfortunate death of the student.

โ€œThe University has taken swift action by handing over all the students involved to the Nigeria Police Force for investigation, with the assurance that justice will be served.

โ€œThe University remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring a safe, conducive, peaceful, and godly atmosphere for learningโ€, Public Relations Officer, Olufemi Atoyebi said.
