The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, marked his 50th birthday with a visit from the Afenifere delegation, led by Chief Femi Okunronmu, at the Ile-Oodua palace.

The Afenifere group presented a congratulatory message from their National Leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, and a carved wooden head symbol of Oduduwa .

Chief Okunronmu emphasized Afenifere’s commitment to Yoruba unity and praised the Ooni’s efforts in uniting the Yoruba people. He also acknowledged President Bola Tinubu’s challenges and appreciated his role in tackling Nigeria’s long-standing problems, citing the reconstruction of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

Senator Gbenga Daniel, a former governor of Ogun State and Afenifere chieftain, stressed the importance of Yoruba unity under the Ooni’s leadership and supporting President Tinubu. Ooni Ogunwusi, in turn, urged Afenifere not to leave President Tinubu alone and to continue offering support and advice.

The event was also attended by the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi, who congratulated the Ooni on his birthday and attended the commissioning ceremony of the ‘Yoruba House’, a multipurpose hall donated by Sir Kensington Adebutu.

President Tinubu has previously commended the Ooni’s role in preserving Yoruba culture and unity, acknowledging his leadership in conflict prevention and community development.
