“Those religious fanatics masquerading as Muslims should stay away from acts that could set Yorubaland on fire”- Gani Adams

Gani Adams, the Aare Ona-Kakanfo of Yorubaland, has sounded a warning to religious extremists who might be plotting to disrupt the peace in Yorubaland.

His warning comes on the heels of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs’ support for establishing Sharia courts in South-West states.

Adams emphasized that Sharia law is incompatible with Yoruba culture and beliefs, and that Yorubaland has always been a haven for people of different faiths to coexist peacefully.

He cautioned that Nigeria’s secular nature allows citizens to practice their religions freely, but noted that Sharia law has been misused as a tool for politics and intimidation in some parts of the country.

The Yoruba leader urged religious fanatics to refrain from actions that could ignite violence in the region. He stressed that Yorubaland will not tolerate any attempts to destabilize the area through religious extremism .
