Nord Motion Delivers 50 CNG-Powered Buses to Federal Government

Nigerian automobile manufacturer, Nord Motion, has announced the successful delivery of 50 units of its fully compressed natural gas (CNG) powered buses to the Federal Government of Nigeria, marking a significant step in the country’s push toward cleaner and more affordable mass transportation.

In a statement, the company said the delivery was made possible through the support of the Federal Ministry of Finance, which facilitated the procurement process. The deployment of the buses will be coordinated by the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PCNGI), the federal body mandated to accelerate Nigeria’s transition from petrol and diesel-powered vehicles to gas-powered alternatives.

According to Nord Motion, the CNG buses are designed to reduce transportation costs for commuters while offering a safer and more environmentally friendly option for public mobility. The company noted that the buses also align with the government’s broader efforts to reduce dependence on fuel imports and lower carbon emissions.

The automaker emphasised that the delivery represents a milestone in Nigeria’s growing adoption of locally manufactured mobility solutions. It added that its commitment is focused on producing reliable and energy-efficient vehicles that support economic growth, create jobs, and improve the daily commuting experience for Nigerians.

“We remain dedicated to building innovative mobility solutions that strengthen the economy, protect the environment, and provide Nigerians with dependable transportation,” the company said.

Nord Motion also expressed appreciation to the Federal Government for its continued support and to the PCNG Initiative for what it described as a collaborative effort to drive sustainable transportation reforms across the country.

The 50 CNG buses are expected to be deployed across various states in the coming weeks as part of the administration’s plan to expand cleaner public transportation infrastructure nationwide.
