Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State on Tuesday, August 1, revealed that he was one of those who accompanied President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his trip to the Republic of Benin to celebrate the nation’s 63rd Independence Day celebration.

On his official Twitter handle, Governor Makinde noted that on the sidelines of the memorable ceremony, both African countries spoke on cooperating in the areas of trade and security.

He tweeted:

β€œToday, we joined the entourage of His Excellency President Bola Tinubu to the Republic of Benin for their 63rd Independence Day celebrations.

β€œOn the sidelines of the event, we discussed cooperation between Nigeria and Benin Republic on trade and security.”

Recall that President Tinubu returned to Nigeria from Cotonou, the capital of the Benin Republic, a neighbouring country.

The president was reported to have travelled to the country on the invitation of the French-speaking country’s president, Patrica Talon, for its 63rd Independence Anniversary.
