A group within the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State, Justice Forum, has expressed reservations over the recent committee put in place by the state governor, Biodun Oyebanji on the palliatives for citizens following the fuel subsidy removal.

The group in a statement made available to newsmen on Thursday by its chairman, Segun Adewumi, said it was inappropriate for the governor to appoint only members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the committee.

Adewumi who is also the former deputy speaker in the state Assembly while lamenting the hardship being faced by residents as a result of the policies of the APC-led government, said people regardless of their political parties should be considered for the palliatives to cushion the effect of the biting economic situation.

He explained that the committee comprising only organized labour and three members of the state executive council might end up with recommendations that would only capture members of the APC in the state.

The group said, “We need to ask the governor the criteria used in selecting the committee without involving other political parties because Ekiti belongs to everyone.”

On the governor’s 21-man commissioner nominees, the Justice Forum stated that past political office holders in the state since 1999 were brought back with the influence of their godfathers, rather than other competent and committed people in the state.
