This year’s National Advertising Conference will focus on the contribution of advertising to Nigeria’s economy, the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria has said.

The conference is also expected to serve as a platform to rebrand Nigeria’s image in the comity of nations.

While speaking at a press conference held to herald the annual event, the chairman of the planning committee of this year’s NAC, Tunji Adeyinka, said the conference would feature conversations around the realities, imperatives and challenges confronting the industry.

According to him, the conference, scheduled to hold at the International Conference Centre between December 6 and 8 is also expected to feature a town hall meeting between advertising practitioners and regulators.

Adeyinka said: “A second committee came out of an issue that was raised in the last conference. The Brand Nigeria campaign that has been promoted in the past has been motivated by the government. So, we decided to launch a campaign called Brand Nigeria, but from a citizen’s point of view and an industry point of view.”

On his part, the Director-General of the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria, Olalekan Fadolapo, described Brand Nigeria as an initiative of the industry which viewed Nigeria as a brand, with the aim of coming up with a campaign for this ‘brand.’
