Afenifere makes three fresh appointment

The Afenifere, a prominent Yoruba socio-cultural organization, has announced three new appointments to bolster its leadership and advance its mission.

This was revealed in a statement by the National Publicity Secretary of the body, Comrade Jare Ajayi, on Wednesday.

The statement, however indicated that the new Secretary General is Agbaakin Ademola Babatunde Folarin while the new Treasurer is Alagba Dare Babarinsa with Barrister Lanre Omisore as the new Financial Secretary.

The appointments, made by National Leader Chief Reuben Famuyide Fasoranti, OFR, during a Caucus meeting at his residence on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, aim to strengthen the organization’s structure and advance its mission.

New Secretary General Folarin, a seasoned lawyer and philanthropist with over four decades of experience, brings a wealth of expertise to the role. His appointment, along with others, signals Afenifere’s commitment to effective leadership and continuity.

The new appointees will join existing officers, including Abagun Kole Omololu, Dr. Akin Onigbinde, SAN, and Comrade Jare Ajayi, to form a robust team driving Afenifere’s agenda.

Notably, former Ondo State Governor Dr. Olusegun Mimiko’s appointment as Chairman, Reconciliation Committee, was ratified, underscoring Afenifere’s focus on unity and cohesion.

Afenifere’s leadership restructuring demonstrates its dedication to promoting Yoruba interests, fostering unity, and addressing pressing national issues.

As the organization navigates Nigeria’s complex socio-political landscape, these appointments position Afenifere for greater impact and influence.

Also, a renowned journalist Alagba Babarinsa, with over 40 years of experience, assumes the role of Treasurer. His illustrious career spans pioneering work at Concord newspaper and founding membership of Tell magazine, among other notable achievements.

Barrister Omisore, a seasoned lawyer with international experience, having practiced in the United Kingdom hopes to bring valuable expertise to the organization.
