The beneficiaries of the Agro-Processing, Productivity Enhancement and Livelihood Improvement Support project in Lagos State have commended the state government and the World Bank on their various initiatives on food security.

The beneficiaries, who were farmers from different parts of the state, said their productivity had been improved and enhanced based on the support they received from the Lagos APPEALS project, especially in aquaculture, rice, and poultry value chains.

The farmers gave the commendation during the media tour of the Lagos APPEALS project to intervention sites recently.

Speaking during the media tour to different farms in Badagry, Ojo and Alimosho, Lagos State Chairman of Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria, Mr Raphael Hunsa, expressed the association’s gratitude to the Lagos State APPEALS project for assisting farmers at the Gberefu farm site, saying the project had boosted the productivity of farmers in the state and improved their livelihood.

The Secretary of the Badagry Fish Hatchers Association, Mr Jolaoluwa Olumayowa, said the APPEALS project had been a game changer for his group, noting that the intervention of the project had given them the capacity to have a production strength that could take up the nation.

Also speaking, the Coordinator of the Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association Farmers at Ojo Barracks, Mrs Oluwatoyin Oloyede, hailed the Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and Lagos APPEALS Project for the assistance to the wives of the military officers in the barracks in the area of aquaculture and poultry.

“We are so happy to tell you that even when our husbands are not around, we are busy. We are on the farm and we are making money and keeping the home front. We are no longer liabilities to our husbands. We are grateful to the APPEALS Project,” she said.
