Kogi West Youth Advocate Calls for Unity and Stronger Response to Insecurity

A youth leader in Kogi State has called for renewed regional cooperation and stronger investment in young people as part of efforts to strengthen political stability and development in Kogi West.

Mesole Ayodele Oluwasegun, Youth Advocate and Coordinator of the National Coalition of Registered Youth Associations (NCRYA) in Yagba East, said the region must unite and take a coordinated approach to addressing insecurity if it hopes to maintain its relevance in the state’s leadership landscape.

In a statement, Oluwasegun emphasized that the future of Kogi West depends on the ability of its communities to “speak with one voice” and work collectively toward shared development goals. He noted that persistent security challenges, coupled with limited opportunities for young people, continue to hinder the region’s growth.

He stressed that empowering the youth through skills development, political inclusion, and community support remains central to shaping a stronger and more competitive Kogi West. According to him, the region’s long-term progress requires deliberate efforts from traditional leaders, political actors, and community-based organizations.

Oluwasegun also urged stakeholders to adopt proactive measures to confront insecurity, warning that failure to do so would limit economic advancement and weaken the region’s influence in state affairs. He called for increased collaboration between government agencies, security operatives, and local communities to create a safer environment for residents.
