Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, has been suspended from the Senate for six months, but she’s refusing to back down.

“This injustice will not be sustained,” she declared, before being escorted out of the chambers.

The suspension stems from a heated debate between Akpoti-Uduaghan and Senate President Godswill Akpabio on February 20, over a change in seating arrangements.

However, Akpoti-Uduaghan alleges that her troubles in the Senate began after she rejected Akpabio’s sexual advances.

In an interview with Arise News, Akpoti-Uduaghan made the shocking allegation, which she later submitted as a sexual harassment petition against Akpabio on the floor of the Senate.

Unfortunately, the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions rejected the petition, citing breaches of due process and Senate rules.

Despite the setback, Akpoti-Uduaghan resubmitted her petition against Akpabio during Thursday’s plenary session.

However, the Senate’s Ethics Committee recommended her suspension for six months, which was upheld by the majority of senators.

In a surprising twist, a Federal High Court in Abuja has issued an interim order stopping the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions from proceeding with the investigation against Akpoti-Uduaghan.
