Yoruba Groups Reaffirm Commitment to 1886 Peace Treaty

The Yoruba, one of the largest indigenous black African nationalities, have restated commitment to the peace treaty of 1886, ending the Kiriji War.

Several Yoruba groups had converged on the city of London to commemorate the end of the war, an internecine strife that pitted kingdoms against one another, particularly the Ibadan against the Ijesha and Ekiti.

The event holds today Sept 23 at 12:03 am at its Intercontinental Hotel venue of in London.

The pan-Yoruba event is being hosted by Think Yoruba First Organization, Yoruba Foundation, Yoruba Council of Elders, Yoruba Lives Matter, and Yoruba Koya.

Special guests at the event, according to a Think Yoruba First chieftain, Dr. Bukola Adeniji, include Kabiyesi Olugbon, Oba Francis Olusola Alao; Oloye Lekan Alabi, veteran journalist and Maye Olubadan; Otunba Giwa Deji Osibogun and Chief Joshua Popoola among several others.
